ABC Te Rapa is a very family-friendly centre that encourages parents to participate in their children’s learning and development whilst they are at the centre. Our tāmariki are precious and it is important all teachers are trained to provide quality care and education to our children whilst taking into account their individual difference and cultures.
The whakatau ‘It takes a village to raise a child” is a very important mantra for me. We need to be proactive in taking responsibility for all our children and protect and educate them from an early age so that their experiences are positive and they will grow into well adjusted, pro-social and happy adults. The experiences we as early childhood teachers are able to provide our children must be positive, encouraging and fun. It is important we work in partnership with families / whānau encouraging participation and protection of each individual child.
The one thing I believe really stands out for our centre is the diverse cultures of our teachers and the way they are able to use their cultures to enhance the children’s learning. We have teachers who speak Te Reo, Hindi, Tongan, Mandarin and English. Each culture is celebrated and diversity is encouraged.
As all the staff are trained in enhancing brain development, we believe it is important for young children to develop attachments and relationships with adults that are nurturing and encourage empathy and understanding of each other. This philosophy enhances the Early Childhood Curriculum – Te Whāriki.
We welcome you to visit our centre and enjoy what ABC Te Rapa has to offer your child/ren.
